It's December!
It's December!
⛄ Baby, it's cold outside! If you recall, this summer we moved from the sunny west coast to the Midwest - where there are actual seasons! We're absolutely loving every moment of it, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was wholly unprepared for this cold weather. 🥶 Last night it snowed a couple of inches, so today I've been hunkering down! Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love it, and I wouldn't live anywhere else! ♥
I've also been under the weather a bit more than usual this month, so these Fieldnotes will be remarkably short - well, at least for me!

🎉 Zazzle's newest product has me downright giddy! I'm talking about the release of the new acrylic invitations at Zazzle - and they have added ARCH shaped cards, too! Don't be intimidated by acrylic invitations, and definitely don't sleep on these! People do buy them, so get in there and make some, even if it's just to see what they're like. This month's freebie will help you with these!
💡 Remember, with Zazzle you want to post your seasonal designs at least 2 months before that season so they have time to "marinate" in the marketplace. So that means December is the time to create products for Valentine's Day. Now, I don't personally do a lot of Valentine's Day stuff because I'm so busy, but it's definitely a profitable season if you do your proper research and post what customers are looking for.
💗 If I had to give you one "pro tip," it would be this: don't just create a Valentine's Day card. Hear me out, now! You can create a cute card, but people don't usually buy Valentine's Day cards in packs/bulk like they do with holiday cards, so you're most likely going to sell them individually. That means you're looking at a pretty small royalty on a paper card; maybe a bit more if they buy the digital download. So instead of the cards, focus on gifts and party supplies instead! For gifts, think photo gifts and personalized gifts (rather than just putting a big heart on that mug, put a heart and a monogram or a name!) For party supplies, think invitations and table supplies of course, but also think tags, stickers, and things that people will buy in bulk this season.
🎀 And don't be afraid to think outside the box! Sure, Zazzle doesn't have those little Valentine's Day cards that kids give out at school, but what if you made them on gift tags? or business cards? A little creative marketing and cover images will go a long way!
